The Bruins old goal horn used before the 2007-08 season has been what you'd call a passion project of mine. I've read through websites that look like they were designed by a toaster and even asked some employees at the Garden that have been their since it was built. Here's what I've learned about the Bruins old goal horn. Was it real? Yes, it was very quiet for a real goal horn and isn't easy to spot but these points will be addressed in the next few questions. What model was it? It was a K3LA with one bell muted and facing the other direction from the 2 active bells. Where is it located? I was able to spot it between the TD garden signage yellow rings on the scoreboard from box 513, you'll see a catwalk and the horn positioned in a vertical orientation. The reason it was so quiet was due to the fact the both horns that were active faced straight up into the 2nd layer of dampening pads located in the rafters of the arena. This did give it a unique sound but at the price of loudness. This is also why it's hard to see because it's between 2 layers of dampening pads so you can only see it from certain angles. Other history: The horn came of a Orange line train that was retired during the construction of the then FleetCenter, since North Station is directly below both where the old and new Gardens were/are they thought it would be fitting to give the horn off that train to the Bruins for their new arena. Here's a picture of a same model horn,

I'm not sure if Orange Line trains had K3LAs, but I know that MBTA trains had them.

Some orange line trains did have K3LA's although I think most of those trains have been retired at this point

Are you sure it was K3LA, furthermore with one bell muted? From the old Bruins footage the horn sounds more like a K5L or K5H, and definitely has at least 4 different bells sounding at once (E, G, B, C#) while K3LA has a major chord... very interesting infos though. I never liked the synthetic goal sound.

Shame they didn't just move the horn so it would be louder. Below the scoreboard would have been good.
