In 1965 the new Olympia Scoreboard started out as red but by for the last seasons at Olympia they changed the colour to black. I went inside of GameDay Detroit near Comerica Park and I found a piece of the old scoreboard along with seats, a piece of the boards, signs, doors and even the neon "Y" from Olympia. The scoreboard has Detroit and Quebec on it with the score reading 4-4 as the final score. That was the last game at Olympia on Dec.15, 1979. You can also spot the original red on the bottom of the scoreboard as well.

Humm that would explain why in Bob Busser's photos from the the early 1980s when he visited the Olympia, the scoreboard was black in color. Thanks for verifying that, much appreciated.

I have a picture of the scoreboard from when I saw it, I just don't know how to add it in here to post it.

I have a picture of the scoreboard from when I saw it, I just don't know how to add it in here to post it. I use cubeupload, rather easy site to use (5 MB image size limit thou, registering allows pics to be deleted etc otherwise it does the job), doesn't have that annoying crap Imgur has. If that doesn't work, I'm sure theres a way to attach the image to your post via "Add Attachment" option on your end (I don't know if that works for your member status or not)
