This one was used from about 1985 until it was replaced by the Buell set for the 94-95 season.

I can't believe an Original 6 team would of even used that damn thing, I was baffled when I first heard that on old highlights.

I can't believe an Original 6 team would of even used that damn thing, I was baffled when I first heard that on old highlights. keep in mind this is from an era where goal horns weren't the done thing. Chicago started the trend in 1977, but plenty of teams had none. I got into the NHL in 1987 when I was 11. Joe Louis had that "car horn," Chicago Stadium had their original horn which they still use, Buffalo had theirs, and Washington had their electronic siren. The Wings kept running into the brick wall that was the Edmonton Oilers, and the Oilers in the '80s had no goal horn. It was only after the '90s and 2000s where NHL teams had their own goal horn sounds.
